since i don't usually turn off my computer, i put it to sleep alot. but it's kinda inconvenient needing to go down the list and select it. it would love it if there was some small widget that just had a sleep button on it. i know there is already one with shut down, restart, etc... but i just need the sleep button.

This would be the height of pointless widget-ism. Really, is it so hard to move the mouse all the way to the apple menu then click "sleep". You could always write an applescript and stick it in the dock or something.

The iStarter widget allows you to switch user, restart, sleep and shutdown.

The Sleep Widget just puts your machine to sleep.

If you want a quick way to sleep... just hit option-apple-eject - no fuss no muss.

Personally, I just press the power button on the computer to put it to sleep.

See System Preferences >> Energy Saver >> Options tab for more info.
