I have put a second canvas on the back of a widget (which is not related to the canvas on the front.) Will it work to display completely independent 2 canvas <div>s on the same side of a widget at the same time ?

Yes - assuming you mean you've got separate <canvas> (since it doesn't make sense to say you've got "canvas <div>" just like it doesn't make sense to say "image <div>").

The only thing to watch out for (and this is independant of having multiple canvases) is that you'll need to redraw the canvas when it is shown, since a canvas is invalidated completely when it (or it's containing parent) is hidden.

Thanks for the reply gandreas, and for pointing out how a <canvas> behaves differently from most other HTML elements.
