Nice - loking forward…

Quicksilver and Spotlight can be used in the Dashboard layer (try it!), and Spotlight isn't third party...

but someone's quoting tags got screwed up. | Your phantom quote first appeared in one of Cerberus' posts - I just adopted it |

I like this widget idea and might work on it. Doing the search in JavaScript (or maybe a shell script bundled in the widget) ought to be fast enough, since most people won't have more than 100 widgets or so (and definitely no more than 1000).
But if someone else gets a working Widget Launcher done first, that's fine |

I've just made a new GUI for the fictional widget:
I've already written a (very fast) Applescript engine to filter out the desired widgets
The only thing missing is somebody who writes the javascript code!
More detailed info can be found here:

C'mon guys!
PM me if you're interested and have the skills to realize such a widget!
I can't believe that there is no launcher out yet!

I beleive that there is enough code in different widgets so that this could work. Like for example: the stickies dispenser widget can enable widgets from another one. The origninal Widget Manager widget can grab all the names of widgets and wether or not they are system or user. And then you get code from any search widget that can search a string like widget update and just re-apply it to this widget. I beleive this is enough code that it is possible |

Thanx cerberus!
@ Powermacguy & All:
Yes - there's much code you could modify to build the widget easily!
I just need someone who has the skills to write the Javascript code for it!
(BTW: There is no need to copy the filtering routines from other widgets:
I've already built a very fast Applescript/Shell engine to do simple and advanced filterings) |

I'll do the coding for the widget under 1 condition:
I can make a toggle button so that we can search for Apps the same way & launch 'em. You're in charge of the applescript for that
But that's what i want, mostly. a quick app launcher in the form of a widget. but hell, we can make it do both. |

Okay! It's a deal!
Then let's start to make it!
We've spent enough time to talk about how we could do it!
