Hello to all first time posters, Very Happy

Thanks in advance,

Consider widgets as little web pages. So, to create a very simple widget all you need to know is some basic HTML. More advanced widgets could have HTML, CSS, JS, etc.

When you get down to the programming level, Dashboard Widgets and Konfabulator Widgets have nothing in common. John Gruber has a good text on the topic here.

Of course its possible. Just install the PHP files to the user ~/Sites/ directory and make sure they have PHP turned on in the httpd.conf configuratin. But go see the thread on PHP in widgets elsewhere in this forum.

I'm aware of the disccusions on PHP in widgets elsewhere on this form. But I would like to know if i did something like this in my mainHTML file

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://my.server.com/myPHPpage.php">

would it load myPHPpage.php in to the widget ? would it function as I expect it to ?

I do not want users to have to turn on php. I want the widget to run on my.server

Depends how you expect it to function! Razz

It might work. If it works in a browser, chances are it works in Dashboard.

Another thing to try, is doing the same with JavaScript, using something like:
Code:
window.location='www.somesite.com/php.php';

I'll try this out when I get a chance.

George.
