| I'm trying to submit a new widget but I get an error message after submission saying that its not the right file type? The widget is zipped and the screenshot is a PNG file? |

| How large is the file? What browser are you using to upload? What version? |

I just tried this in FireFox (2.0.1) and nothing happens when you click the Upload button and I tried it in Safari and got this error.
| Code: | | Safari can’t open the page “http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/upload.php”. The error was: “POSIX error: Is a directory” (NSPOSIXErrorDomain:21) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. |

| Did you zip the widget file you were trying to upload? |

| Ah yes, putting it in the ZIP format seems to have worked. I did have to submit it multiple times when it was in the ZIP format but eventually it did work. |

I was having this same issue because I didn't archive the file. You might consider adding an error message that explains you must archive a widget before uploading if you can get it to recognize when a .wdgt has been submitted by mistake. I know the small text is there but apparently I'm not the only person who looked right over it.
Edit: So... the widget won't show up for a few days.
Is there a link I can still give for a widget not yet up?
Why exactly does it take a few days? I assume they have to be manually checked or something but for what? Is there some kind of vulnerability that can let someone take over a computer that downloads a virus widget? |

The error takes place before the folder even reaches our server (browsers simply won't upload a folder, which is what a .wdgt bundle effectively is) so there's really no way for us to display an error message.
As for the review process, we verify that it was uploaded correctly (i.e. not corrupted), that it functions properly, and that it doesn't have any gaping security problems. |
