Widget refresh on click of F4 button

I am working on macOS machines.I have developed a dashboard widget. On pressing the F4 button I can see my widget , but the data inside the widget doesn't get refreshed. For refreshing the widget(data) I have to explicitly give command+R. But my requirement is to refresh the widget ,whenever I see the widget on clicking F4 button.
Please provide solution for the same.

Tie the refresh to widget.onshow. Modern versions of Dashcode already have a show() function defined, which is tied to that event.
