Communications - SMS

Description: The SMS widget allows you to send text messages to mobile phones for free. You donít even need to have a phone at all! The widget works with most major carriers in the USA and Canada as well as O2 and T-Mobile in Germany.

- Integrates with the Mac OS X Address Book, so you can quickly select friends to contact.
- After you send a message, the widget remembers your friendís carrier so that you donít need to enter it in the future!
- Long messages are automatically split into multiple parts.
- You can include your mobile number or email as the reply address of your messages. This lets recipients reply to your SMS messages.

A free website for sending text messages is also available at:

what can be said other than this rocks! the only drawback is the design, but the author is aware of that and is looking for contributions.

This is a good widget; better than the other SMS options. The main thing I'd like to see is for it to shrink down when not in use the way a lot of other widgets do. Thanks for a cool widget!

This widget needs a character counter as at least Sprint caps messages at 160 chars. It would also be nice if somehow the from could just be the phone number and not xxx-xxx-xxxx@messaging.sprintpcs.com (tho' perhaps that's not possible)

I downloaded this to SMS my brother, who just moved to Hawai'i; I don't have a cell phone and thus can't test it myself. But my brother said he received my message just fine, but when he returned it, instead of showing my email address, it just showed a random 4-digit number. He tried replying, but I didn't get the email. His carrier is Cingular. Just wanted to point this out in case you can duplicate and fix it. I will happily donate if I can reliably use it! smiley

This is an excellent widget: one of the few I always keep open. Separating the messages and a character count are too fantastic extra options. My only suggestion is to make it a bit smaller or at least collapsable.

Great! I love how it's free! if it was smaller or had some better graphics (such as gradients / lighting effects / etc) i would rate it a full five. Keep up the good work, i'm looking forward to your updates!

I share the other comments. The design lacks creativity but it's functional. I'll use it a lot! Thanks!

It doesn't work. I never receive the verification code.
