Nice! Great for an alpha version! But there needs to be a blue bar on the right so that it is a complete border. A backside for preferences / info would be nice. I would like to know where this is connecting to and such, and the back would be a perfect place for this. One final note, there should be a link so you can compare your results with other people (if possible). Thanks!

btw, i got 2789/677

Excellent idea for a widget. Looking forward to seeing a nicely designed front end.

Feature request would have to be a choice of international servers... London would be good smiley

doesnt work like that, this is the only service ive come across that works as a widget, and gives you dull functionality of the widget

I'm not sure if I am the only one who had this problem. The first time I ran it, the download test worked, and then when it went to the upload test, the speed numbers just keep flashing after the "percent complete" dial reached 100. Although I can see that nothing is actually being sent uplink, it would not stop even after running like that for a full five minutes. Only thing I could do to get it to stop was to go into the Dashboard manager and take it off my desktop.

I know this is an early version and it's a great idea. Many thanks to the developer and I will give it a go again after a new version comes out.

Excellent smiley But, there is a bug with the servers buttons...

way to steal a swf file directly from http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/. The only original part is the border and that is flawed.

The hyperlinks are buggy.

I get that the author doesn't aspire to be a developer or a designer, just to put something useful on the desktop and share it.

The wood border accounts for the major difference between v0.2 and v1.0; (screen real estate was an issue for me already); yet the main function - a very basic one, is still broken.

I think I could make the hyperlinks in this widget work.

I am sorry if it offends anyone, but out of respect to the developers whom I gave full 5 star ratings too, there has to be some perspective...

Anyone who feels otherwise can just add their own 5 star rating here to cancel mine out.

Just please tell me why you released it as version 1.0 ?

I would not say anything like that about a lower version number.

I am concerned that if developers do not act responsibly as developers then Apple will regret this experiment... They can cancel us at any time, and IMO we should all take heed of that fact.

And I am sorry on a personal level. Please do your best and I will try to be more constructive and try to help...

One way to fix the links might be to designate those rectangular areas as "Apple Control Regions".. e.g. the buttons in the Apple Calculator widget.. Those could trigger a javascript event handler that sends a button press event to the web server, or emulates a mouse click at a specific location on the page.. Maybe you need to do this if the buttons are Flash. Or to put a transparent image in front of the button which can receive the click.

I do hope you succeed with this.
