Sorry but it doesn't work on my computer... the only thing visible is the background, no stats at all...

Any thoughts on what might be wrong???

Posted by: Thomasdetlefsen on Oct 18, 05 (4:15 PM) for version 0.1b (previous version)

Hm, does not work for me neither.
I just see the background, too.
Perhaps this has something to do with us both not having English versions of iTunes (I assume?).

Strange... works perfectly for me, and I've got a Dutch version of iTunes...

Anyway... I love the idea for this widget as I'm one of those nutcases that just has to keep his iTunes library as organized as possible. A great thumbs up!
Could look a little better though.

Looking forward to the next version!

Whoops... it seems to crash a lot, most of the time when I close the dashboard...

It doesn't work here too! smiley (I've also got a Dutch version of iTunes

I wish I could say it was working, but its not (English 6.0). I really want it to. I have always wondered and scared to see how many hours I have spent listening to music... look forward to a working version.

Works nicely.

Doesn't function for me either. I'm on an English version of Mac OSX and iTunes 6. Guess this is more of an Alpha release than Beta.

Liked the idea, too bad it doesn't work.

Posted by: kineel on Oct 19, 05 (12:58 AM) for version 0.1b (previous version)

Works great here, too. (FYI, Tiger 10.4.2, iTunes 6, Powermac 2.5 GHz)

Yep doesn't work for me. English iTunes 6.0, 4.0.2 osx, duel 1.8 G5. Sounds like a good idea just needs to have the kinks worked out.

Posted by: icenine90 on Oct 19, 05 (1:24 AM) for version 0.1b (previous version)

Odd. It works fine for me, but unfortunately I don't have another computer to test it on. If it doesn't work for you, please <a href=mailto:imawebhog@aol.com>email me</a> your "iTunes Music Library.xml" file located in "~/Music/iTunes/" as an attachment. Thanks, this bug should be fixed soon.

i guess links aren't supported in the comments here at DBW. My email is imawebhog@aol.com.

Works great for me. OS X 10.4.2, iTunes6, 3000+ songs in library... I'd love for it to be able to generate a playlist on the fly for any stat if I clicked on it.

Works here, with iTunes 6 and 10.4.2.
Really cool widget, thanks. Looks like I have a lot of music I have never listened to...

Posted by: meowza on Oct 19, 05 (4:06 PM) for version 0.1b (previous version)

Not working for me, just a background.
iTunes 6.0 (Eng) 10.4.2

It is a really neat idea, and I can't understand why it should work for some people and not others. I've relayed my file to you in the hopes that it will help.

First version didn't work, but this one does. Good job.

Posted by: luti on Oct 22, 05 (11:04 AM) for version 0.2b (current version)

This works fine (I didn't download 0.1b).

I wonder if you mightn't make an expandable area below to reveal details about certain items (a list of unrated songs, for instance), though not all. I would be scared by an attempt to grab, for instance, all songs in some people's libraries and list them that way, though for new users the lists may well be close in length.

Worked for me, but it did take a little while to load up. However, in its defense...I have a HUGE library of 21,476 songs.

It was nice to see at a glance how many songs haven't been played, or were unrated.

I'd like to see the new version when it comes out. I really like this widget!!

Posted by: cgmpowers on Oct 22, 05 (9:19 PM) for version 0.2b (current version)   View Detailed Rating

Wish I had better news, but it still won't work for me.
iTunes 6.0.1
OSX 10.4.2
1.5Ghz PowerPC G4
1.25 GB DDR SDRAM
8120 Songs in iTunes

Posted by: trmptblwr on Oct 22, 05 (9:36 PM) for version 0.2b (current version)

Great! Works for me now...maybe those that still have problems should try sending their files to you....

That is very neat, that it will work even with 21000 songs. Of course, I could never fit 21000 songs on my 60 gb HD, but it is nice to see the widget is that good at what it does.

Ratings apply to my idea of its application, as a widget called up periodically from the dashboard dock, not a permanent widget. Very interesting, telling knew info about such a popular program.

One of the unlucky ones over here. Doesn't work. Standard Mac Powerdesk, latest software etc.

I suspect the problem is the number of tracks in iTunes. I have about 11,000. It could be more than it can handle in its current version.

Just a guess.

Posted by: Asimov67 on Dec 18, 05 (11:39 PM) for version 0.2b (current version)

Great Widget. One of those widgets that will make me keep using them.

The planned new functionality sounds great!

I'm using 10.4.4, Dual G5 PowerMac 2.0 gig and iTunes 6.02 and everything works fine.

Posted by: mattman on Jan 17, 06 (1:31 AM) for version 0.2b (current version)   View Detailed Rating

hey, love it, just one problem
the widget is showing these stats:
No Artwork: 15
No Artist Info: 2
No Album Info: 27

but i only have 13 songs without artwork, and all of my songs and videos and podcasts have artist and album information.

not sure if this is a problem with my music library or itunes stats. ive checked the xml file, there are no items without artist or album...

@ anyone who knows whats happening, PM me, or drop an email at downhillbiker[at]shaw.ca thanks for an awesome widget!

Posted by: Gimp on Feb 03, 06 (9:37 AM) for version 0.2b (current version)   View Detailed Rating

Oh, and I have over 2000 tracks in itunes, and my XML file is 2.8 MB.

Posted by: Gimp on Feb 03, 06 (9:38 AM) for version 0.2b (current version)

Awesome idea. Works great. Would it be possible to include a "number of songs played. It would find all songs with play counts bigger than 0 or something. That would be the only thing I could think to add. Great widget

Posted by: Bloogersnigen on Feb 19, 06 (11:37 PM) for version 0.2b (current version)   View Detailed Rating

Great widget. My only concerns smiley is that it makes me more obsessive about iTunes. Also some stats seem to be inflated. I have a few songs without artwork and but iTunes stats tells me I have more. Does it include vidoes/podcasts? Would be nice if it could display the songs or make a playlist with them for debugging (and I am not talking about the widget but my iTunes libray). Thanks.

It's pretty good! I love the idea - I've done this manually for a while - nice to have a widget.

It works fine on mine, but with my 3500 song library, it ends up taking 50-60 meg of ram! If you can get the ram usage down, it'd be much more functional.

Only other idea is to let us create our own stats - much like smart playlists.

Awesome widget. When is the new version coming out? Those new features look like they will be great.

Posted by: dustincook on Oct 12, 06 (8:54 AM) for version 0.2b (current version)   View Detailed Rating

It used to run *partly* for me under OS 10.4.9, but with some inaccurate information (e.g., artwork, never played) and with illegible gibberish for Playlists and nonsense for "No album information". It got worse when I updated to OS 10.5.2. Now, after updating the widget to 0.2, all I have is a red background inviting me to update.

I'd like to have this function, but it's not usable (for me) as is.

Please make "Create Smart Playlists" feature a top priority! I love this widget already, but it would be so amazing if I could quickly see which songs I need to fix to get my numbers down!!

Posted by: tedious on Dec 07, 08 (10:12 PM) for version 0.2b (current version)

It looks like a well-designed widget. I've tried something that's less widget-like and instead generates a text file using VB Script. If you're interested, please check out iTunesStats at www.iTunesStats.com.

Cheers,
-Scott
