Application Interfaces - iLifeDock

Description: Your dock is so long that even a 30' cinema display wouldn't fit? Here's the solution! Get rid of the six icons of iLife '06, and place them in your dashboard.
your dock's still too long? be patient, i'm working on a Adobe creative suite widget, and an office widget.

enjoy!

Novel idea, but I'll hold off on rating until it works properly.

For some reason, the icons are all solid white, while the application icons never appear. Also, I see a border showing the clickable area for each icon.

Also, have the ovals appear below the center icon, rather than above it.

If you'd have a version of this in half-scale (or atleast an option), it'd be perfect, as well as the Adobe & Office versions. You're almost there!

I agree with the previous poster. The icons on the white circles do not work. Are you worried about distributing the icons that Apple owns? You are distributing them in default.png so just use that instead of iLifeDockUse.png.

I'd like to see it a little smaller before I can keep it in my dashboard.

It might also be worth removing the white circles altogether, try it out, I prefer it without.

Ooops... I'm going to correct that today!

I think that for a smaller one, a magnification effect (like in the dock) would be rather cool... any idea how to do that?

Thanks for the reports.

Nicely done. The magnification effect would be a nice touch. I'm keeping this one now.

For magnification, you'll probably want to use the Apple Classes Animator/Animation classes. See http://tinyurl.com/h3d2t for details.

And here's a quick widget I did to illustrate the above concepts for an article: http://www.skia.net/SampleWidgets/AppleAnimatorTest.zip

The little ghost at the bottom probably does something similar to what you would like. Keep in mind this is just a sample, so don't expect any high-functionality smiley

There is a glitch where one icon will remain large, and then the widget becomes useless, and you have to relaunch it. Also, you should make the area to expand the icons larger, because you have hover over them just right to make them expand.

Can you make it so that a certain app doesn't appear if you don't have it on your system? I'm sure many people don't have iWeb and some may not even have Garageband. I'd like not to have the iWeb icon there when I don't have it installed.

Overall good... but there's better. See http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/details.php?wid=1556

Love the idea, any way you can edit the apps that show from the Ilife apps?
