System Utilities - IPfinder

Description: This widget looks up your external IP address using www.showmyip.com and displays it. You are limited to 750 queries a day.

This widget does not display the IP address of your computer on your local LAN.

When running the widget may display on of the following messages: starting - the widget is getting ready to run, loading - the widget is retrieving data, error - the widget could not get data from www.showmyip.com

The visual design of the widget has been improved by user dominic.

Please size your widgets appropriately, this is far too big - by any stretch of the imagination.

Apart from the size issue and lack of any decent design or creativitiy, it works.

This was a quick and dirty widget that I did only because someone requested it.

I know it's big, I'll change that when I get around to properly testing the plug-in I've written to copy the address to the clipboard.

Thanks for letting me know what you think of it though, you've given me a reason to bother changing it.

Hi,
Would it be possible also to display host name by doing a reverse lookup on IP adress ? below the ip or instead of the IP ? Perhaps a setup of widget to allow to display IP and/or hostname smiley

Great Widget!!!

I've been waiting for this one since installing Tiger on Friday Night. One thing you may want to consider... I believe if you used http://checkip.dyndns.org for the lookup, your results would be faster.

a feature i would like to see implemented is a copy to clipboard on click

but thats just an idea (i like the update! now you just need to fix the icon in widget tray (to match the new look)
