It's nice that iChat doesn't have to be on, but it does seem that one has to at least signal that one is "away" with iChat's menu item. Would it be possible to have it display buddies who are online without me having to indicate I'm away? That is, can I be offline as far as iChat is concerned, but have this let me know when buddies are available? I hope for that in a future release.

Nice minimal interface. No unnecessary screen real estate taken up with this widget.

Btw, when I say, "offline as far as iChat is concerned" I mean that I would have a live internet connection, but I would not be running iChat or using its menu bar icon to indicate my status. I just want to anonymously check to see if pals are on, without people seeing that I'm "away" or "available," or anything. It seems from my lay person point of view that this should be do-able.

Thanks smiley

What you are asking for is not doable without a huge amount of work.

Nice, non-space-consuming widget that does it's job well. My only requests:
--Jabber and Bonjour support. This could be done one of 2 ways:
***Flip the widget around and choose which list to display. Multiple copies of the widget can be used to display different lists. On the front, have a line that says which list the user is looking at.
***Simply have the widget combine all the lists into one window, and list which service they're using. For example, list userName (AIM)
I personally think the first method would be more effective.
--When clicking on the user's name to start a new IM, it instead opens a chat window (like the type with multiple chat participants). It would be great if it could open a regular IM window, like the kind iChat opens.
--As mentioned, A/V icons would be great, but allow the user to flip the widget to turn these on and off
--As this widget is intended to replace the iChat buddy list, offer a place to edit your status, including the ability to set custom statuses.

That's my $0.02! Great widget!

I just downloaded it (used the previous version before). In version 1.1, I am getting the bottom cut off of the widget. The border isn't complete on this version and some names get cut off. This happening to anyone else?
