System Utilities - Sound Volume
Comments

While I thank you for your time making this widget, I do have a few problems with it. First, the slider is inconstant with apple styling, it's very analog, which I'm sure some people like. I'd rather just a simple slider, but that's just a matter of taste. The Achilles Heel of this thing is that it doesn't stay updated to the current volume level. Several programs change the system volume as well as the keyboard keys when available. Not being able to see the current volume as well as not having an audible cue as to how loud it is as you move it, makes it much less useful than the keyboard or the menu bar. I'm sure alot of this has to do with the limitations and complexity of getting this functionality into a widget.

Thanks for your comments.
The widget does stay in sync with the current volume, it updates each time the dashboard is displayed. Since the widget is really only useful when using a keyboard without volume keys this should work fine.
An audible cue will likely be incorporated into a future version.

This is a great widget... I have a keyboard with no volume control and I use it all the time. Thanks.

Neat widget. I use an Apple Keyboard, but it'll be useful when I'm in Dashboard and my hand is on the mouse. However, I do have one quip. Now that you have the audible cue, I'd like the option to turn it off. Either have a "back" side, or have it grab the preference from the system's setting regarding whether or not to play the sound. Otherwise very cool!
