Application Interfaces - R2ToDo

Description: R2ToDo is a dashboard widget for Mac OSX Tiger. It communicates with iCal to display any incomplete ToDo items from any of your iCal calendars. Clicking on any ToDo item will open iCal with the complete ToDo item details. R2ToDo even shows your tasks in the color of their corresponding iCal calendars!

Finally! I've been waiting so long! Good looking too.
Too bad that the due dates don't work...

I was looking for a ToDo-Widget too and this one looks very nice.

I just have a little design-request: I like the priority bars like they are in iCal better: One color, either light or dark.

Yes, this is what I needed. Looks good and the Force is strong with this one.

What I'd like to see in an update was:
* sort by priority
* widget-resizing-possibility
* scrollbar works only with the arrows and the scrollwheel, not by dragging the bar itself.

Nice work, though!

I am having a bit of trouble here - how does the widget update itself? It doesn't seem to show when I alter a to do list item in iCal unless i close it and restart it.

Hm?

Mmm. Got a problem - it doesn't seem to work at all, its completely blank. How do you get it to talk to iCal?

I've tracked down current bugs with blank widget to be caused by having a large number of ToDos. Basically the script that connects to iCal runs too long and gets cut off, thus hanging the widget.
I'm working on a work-around. I'll let everyone know when it is fixed.
In the meantime, if you usually only have about 10 to 15 ToDos (completed or incomplete) then you'll have no problems.

I'm suddenly having troubles as well, the widget doesn't react, can't be reloaded and removing & readding doesn't help either.

I only have about 6 Todos saved in a single calendar.

I've updated R2ToDo to version 1.0f (1.6 according to this site) and it should now be faster, more reliable and more user friendly.
As soon as the update is visible on this site I recommend checking it out.

really useful widget !
could you add the events for the current day in the same widget?
and the R2D2 image is fluzzy...

Nice imporvements from the first version!
But it doesn't seem to sort by the due dates...

Is there any way R2ToDo can be made to run without needing iCal to run? I'm keen to reduce the strain on the system. One less program would be good, especially as the widgets should be lightweight.

Further, and I'm not sure if this is contradictory, but it'd be nice to have a button to create a new task that connects to iCal, just in the same way as clicking the task goes to the iCal entry. Don't need to create it in the widget, just a button.

Nevertheless, great program!

Yes, not needing to run iCal would be great. This is the only reason I dropped R2ToDo from my Dashboard...

improvements on the wish-list and only with them it would become useful for me:

* the before mentioned sorting by due-date
* showing the due-date of the events in the widget
