Multimedia - Ashed

Description: Ashed will place any image you like on your dashboard. This is a gallery style widget that you click to scroll through any number of pictures. To view your own single shot, just drag your file onto the widget.

To adjust the slideshow, you can set the slide timing on the backside of the widget.

Ashed comes with a set of fifty-odd photographs already installed. They have been re-photoshoped and brightened just for this widget.

If you want to replace the default photographs with your own series of images, look for an instructionary text file inside the widget package: at [yourUserName]/Library/Widgets/Ashed.wdgt "Read-Me plus Converter". The widget package includes an Automator application to automatically resize, rename, and retype your images for easy import.

Ashed is Donationware. Check the Read-Me (inside the package) if you feel like contributing.

Comments are always appreciated.

um, cool little app with attractive pictures included, but not user friendly for anyone who isn't a coder and doesn't want to fool with widgets that can't be flipped around and altered that way.

Right, this is the first version.

Just wait a few days and things will get better.

Any chance of adding an interface to select an iPhoto folder (or even the whole collection) to populate the widget, with conversions on the fly?

Great site, nice discovery. =)

There is a chance of adding an interface for iPhoto, but I couldn't be the one to do it. I am not a coder. But if someone else were to explain the necessary programming, I would welcome the change. For now, I think that it is a good thing that this works with any folder of images, even pulled straight from the web, and that you aren't required to import them into iPhoto first. If someone reads this who has ideas for the code, email me and we'll talk.
