System Utilities - Uptime

Description: Little and useless widget that shows your uptime in a human-readable format, saves your record and shows live updated CPU load (click on the shown uptime to toggle display). Fully localized (English, German, Dutch, Swedish, Simplified and Traditional Chinese as of yet). PLEASE mail me other localizations, suggestions for refinements and bug reports to the mail address found on the widget's backside! This widget has originally been partly based on the work of JokkeDK (ShowOff widget), as I couldn't wait for him to finish, I had to write my own smiley

I was looking for something like this.
I always used 'UptimeBar' in Konfabulator.

Is it possible to add the Load Averages also?
That would be really awesome!

nice one!

i had been using Show Off widget... but that was a bit big. i like that you've made this one smaller as well as those other functions... load averages.

i downloaded the "showoff" widget, but i prefer this one as it is practically the same thing but the widget is smaller. and space on the dashboard is becoming more and more important as i collect widgets.

i personally think all developers should concentrate on ensuring that their widgets take up minimal screen space.

I like the idea of this widget, but it needs to be color configurable, smaller (less wide), preferably with some sort of border to distinguish it from the background, and MOST OF ALL, it needs to not eat CPU when Dashboard isn't active. I was seeing .50-.70% CPU usage through Activity Monitor without Dashboard up. Please fix this bug! No widget should ever run if Dashboard isn't open.

Wait until you have a uptime that reads e.g. "5 days, 10 minutes" and you'll see that the width is well adjusted. Not to talk about the CPU usage display. As of color adjusting, I can think about adding that. As for CPU usage when Dashboard is closed: on my system it doesn't use any CPU at all, in this case. Can anybody else confirm this? Would be appreciated.

Maybe you could slim down the font to save some room?

I redownloaded to check for CPU usage, and it still uses an average of .80%. It's a fraction of a percent, but it's disabled for now because that means a lot when you're working off a battery.

I can submit a list of my currently running widgets, if that will help:

Capture
ClassicNotePad
FrameURL
HulaGirl
MiniBatteryStatus
Package Tracker
Phone Book
Storij
TV Tracker
Timer
Transmit
Weather
Yahoo Traffic

Get rid of the excess black area! It just wastes space.

Yes, I just noticed that it uses CPU whether Dashboard is active or not. Just disabled Uptime (for the first time in weeks) because of this issue. Hopefully you will be able to figure out what is wrong.

Very nice. Perhaps it can remember what display (uptime, record uptime, or average load) it was showing last and show the same display when you bring up dashboard again? Some people might like to keep it on uptime most of the time, some might want average load, etc...)

It seems to me like this widget is updating when it's in the background. It always takes up about 1% of my processor. Anybody else notice this? I hope the developer can fix this because otherwise I don't want to use it...

My record uptime was erased when I restarted, but otherwise it's working fine and an improvement on Showoff, because it's a bit smaller (which to me, like many others, is crucial).

As soon as my record stays this will be an excellent widget.

my record stays. I like the old design better than this new one. perhaps an option to choose between.

and the hit space for changing between record and uptime seems to be a bit laggy and awkward.

i like the widget a lot but please fix the bug with the cpu-usage when not running dashboard.

thx!
