Weather & Traffic - US Weather+

Description: With the latest update of US Weather+, never squint again. Clicking on the map dynamically zooms in, and the map becomes more than twice as large! Click again and it shrinks back into place.

And as always, hundreds of weather-related images are right at your fingertips. To choose a map, just flip to the back to choose a location--from the Northeast to the Southwest, and everything in between, plus additional maps covering the entire globe and every continent. Then, choose any of the regional maps either on the back or the front of the widget, whichever is most convenient. Maps include: Doppler, Current Weather, Visible and Infrared Satellite, Forecasts, Severe Weather, and even more.

Comments, Bugs, Suggestions for v 5?? : )

Nice widget. It'd be nice if there was a way to select a set of maps from a location to view (or just use all of them) and have the widget cycle between them every few seconds.

Or, even easier, would be next and previous arrows beside the popup menu so you wouldn't have to open the popup to change the map style. In this case, instead of a popup menu on the front, you might just use a text label (which could have a hidden popup menu in it if you click it -- design-wise, it's a bit unsual to see a standard Aqua popup menu on the front of a widget).

Not to be a stickler for details, however, you call this version 4 but the get info says Version 1, I am inclined to believe it is version 1 since the Apple widgets are only a few weeks old. So what happen to the other 3 versions

Anyway, it would be nice to see the weather loops that are available.

Seems to be a bug in that it never recalls the region menu when it restarts...so before I can select a map, I have to go back and change the region again.

This is one of my favorite widgets, but I can't figure out how to get the maps to update. I've opened and closed widgets by using F12 several times, but the weather map still shows a map from a couple of hours ago. What can I do to update it? Thanks.

Here's another vote for jzdziarski's suggestion: This widget needs to remember the Region ("North Central US", etc.) between launches!

Otherwise, excellent widget.

I have two suggestions to add to a very nifty widget smiley

1- What if it also gave a 6-hour (or whatever duration) animation? That would be a tremendously handy feature.

2-I'm in pretty much the middle of the US West coast. My region (extreme northern coastal California) doesn't fit well on either the Northwest or Southwest maps; it's either in the bottom left or top right corner of those maps. Could you maybe provide a "Centralwest" map? Also, most of the weather we get comes from out in the Pacific...it would be nice to see what's off the coast a little more.

Thanks smiley

hey, sorry it doesnt save prefs when relaunched, but I'm too busy to update it any more for now smiley

also, I get the maps from weather.com and there is no such thing as central west unless i missed something... so you're best bet would just open up 2 instances and display one above the other and there is a map of the pacific under the region "Other"

I like this widget. If I keep only couple of them active this means this won my hart.

It is very good widget as regards to content. Its designed nice but has couple of problems.

One previously reported - it doesnot remember what map is active. Honestly I really wander why these settings shall be at all at the flip side. I do check overall map as well as detailed maps. I would not mind at all to have both selections (region/map type) at the front. Maybe on the back it shall be the default setting - one that would launch on restart...

Refresh button however small would be of great help too.

But there is some more sinister bugs in some additional features. I noticed for example that this widget zooms the map sometimes. When it does then sometimes it cannot be zoomed down. Sometimes it acts as if it is not there, if you click on it it closes dashboard as if is not present at all (this often happens when zooming in and out) I must say that I really like this zooming feature.

As regards for weather loops - I think you cannot do much. Many weather sites that had animations before do not offer them anymore. Also selection of maps are limited (for example it is hard to find wind maps)

Otherwise one of best widgets around. Hope you will manage to fix these couple of details to be really great widget.

Just downloaded 4.2, and I appreciate that it no longer has the question mark loading icon while loading the image. However, Now, when I flip it over, it has a white border on the right and bottom. Looks like the alpha channel is not turned on for the back image.
