The first release had a minor bug (didn't handle öåä properly) - but that has been fixed now.

I haven't put any effort into the appearance of the widget, or added Lexin's translations to other languages yet (Swedish-Finnish, etc). Will wait to see if there is any demand for the widget before continuing work on it!

Cheers,
Mark.

I downloaded the Widget after you wrote your comment, but åäö still don't seem to work. Didn't try i earlier.

The scroll bar doesn't reset when a new search is performed, so if only one or no results are found you won't be able to see anything at all.

Finally!smiley Maybe you could rip the graphics from Apple's translator widget?

The å, ä and ö doesn't work for me either.
Is it Tiger itself that prevent this? More widgets than this has problem to work with å, ä and ö.

Great widget, though. Keep ut the good work!

Thanks! For those who can't use å ä ö, you can use }, { and | respectively as a temporary solution to the problem.

Could the problem have something to do with which language you installed Tiger as? -- I am using English, I will test it on a Swedish system as soon as I can to see if that is the cause.

I could't get å.ö.ä to work either. Otherwise an excellent widget. Should be dublicated for the additional 8 languages that are available at Lexin.

åäö doesn't work for me either and I'm using an english Tiger. The temporary solution works though but that's a drag to remember which is which in the long run. Keep up the good work though and I'm looking forward to a fix asap!

Nice. But ugly, and won't show up in the Dashboard tray, even when installed.

I fixed the åäö bug by substituting encodeURI(url) for url in two places to encode the strings properly before sending them of to lexikon. The new lines in Main.js look like this:

if ( language == 0 ) { // swe-eng
xmlhttp.open("POST","http://lexikon.nada.kth.se/cgi-bin/swe-eng",true);
xmlhttp.send("sprak=k%E4llspr%E5k&uppslagsord="+encodeURI(url)+"&stava=TRUE" );
} else if ( language == 1 ) { // end-swe
xmlhttp.open("POST","http://lexikon.nada.kth.se/cgi-bin/swe-eng",true);
xmlhttp.send("sprak=m%E5lspr%E5k&uppslagsord="+encodeURI(url)+"&stava=TRUE" );
}

Note that the only thing I changed was url for encodeURI(url).

And by the way, the icon shows up in my dashboard, but the picture on the backside of the widget is missing.

A very nice widget, thanks. Support for Finnish is very easy to add, as is to fix the problem with å/ä/ö.

The way i did it:

processRequest:

// convert the scandinavic letters
rExp = /å/gi;
url = url.replace(rExp, "}"smiley;

rExp = /ä/gi;
url = url.replace(rExp, "{"smiley;

rExp = /ö/gi;
url = url.replace(rExp, "|"smiley;

One should always read all comments before posting. encodeURI is the better way to do it... (går bort och skäms.. smiley

With the modification by sillrper it is an excellent application. I have trouble to copy from the widget. So a future look at "Apple's translator widget" or others is not a bad idea.
