Phonebooks - Canada411

Description: Apple forgot Canada

Apple bundled some awesome widgets with Dashboard, but, as many countries, Canada has been forgotten. This is now fixed with version 2 of this widget.

One widget, millions of possibilities

Right from Dashboard, Canada411™ widget gives you the opportunity to search for companies by name or category as well as for people by name, phone number or address, and this, everywhere in Canada. All is cleverly integrated into only one widget.

Looks good and works well. A few suggestions:

1) Make separate french and english widgets or offer an option to change the language
2) Let the user input the province/city on the front instead of having to flip it over

Still a great effort though!

Thx!
In the next version, I will create an option to switch to another language. For the second suggestion, I will work on it smiley

I'm really happy to see this widget!! smiley Only... it was increadably hard for me to figure it out since I can't speak or read french at all. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to get it to find what I was looking for. Functionality went waaaaaaaaaay down because of that.
Looking forward to seeing on that includes a little more English.

Thanks so much for this widget!!

Odd, it works today now. Last night when I tried the widget all I got was a name, but no clickable links. In any case, great widget, but please an English version. My high school french is a little rusty.

It's supposed to be in english too... I try to fix that.

Is it okay now for the languages?

Great job on the language update! Made the whole widget so much more useful! ( A+++ since it's not letting me choose stars for some reason.)

Thanks so much for putting it together! Keep up the wonderful work! smiley

I have not tried this, but I have a question. Would it be too hard to make a USA version? It looks like a beautifully done widget, but because I don't live in Canada, it would not help me too much. Maybe there can be a option to switch between the two countries. I would love it if you did that, thank you.

I suggest that "Clear Recent Searches" should clear all of the search fields. I don't see any scenario where you would want to clear just the search history for the street number, for example. It's a bit of a pain to have to clear each field individually to protect one's privacy.

So, for the most part it seems to work.

I entered family and friends' lastnames to whom I already know addresses and numbers for, to see the functionality of this widget...

Leaving the first name field blank and entering only the lastname I've noticed that a a select few only show. Yes, I can scroll, but the results seem to stop mid-way into the alphabet.

Example: First: left blank Last: G******
Results: List ends with people whose first name/initial begins with the letter P

HOWEVER, the person I searched has the initial T.

I did a new search only this time I included the person's first initial and it displayed.

This conflicts if the phone is registered by another member of the same household but only the last name of that person is known.

Pages needs to be implemented or fixed so that FULL search results display without having to enter a first name/inital.

Really great widget. I use it since v1.
Fort probablement le widget le plus utile qui n'est pas fournis avec OSX (Likely the most useful widget that is not included with OSX).
