Very nice, it works great.

Very nice! My favorite widget game so far!

No complaints at all, other than the tiny nitpick that the black token image could be a little smoother- it looks kinda hastily drawn.

Oh, and IT'S TOO HARD =(

Hi, thanks for the feedback.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "smoother"? All the graphics are ray-traced using POV-Ray with anti-aliasing, the black token as well as the white one.

Cheers,
Andrew

I'll second the notion that it is WAY too hard. Even on Easy, it beats the crap outta me. Is there really a difference between levels of difficulty?

Yes, there really is a difference between levels of difficulty. Try setting both players to be the computer on different levels, and the better computer usually wins. (There's a small random element in the algorithm, to make sure that every game doesn't go exactly the same way. Occasionally a lower-rated computer gets lucky, and beats a higher-rated opponent).

Looking around various widget-directory type sites, I seem to be getting criticism of "too easy" and"too hard" in equal measure! That said, the range of difficulties is something I would certainly like to improve in a future version, but that will probably require me to write a widget plug-in so I can run native code, that way it can play a stronger game without taking much more time thinking over moves.

I also think this game is REALLY hard. I haven't won a single game, and it is pretty discouraging, especially since I'm playing on easy. Maybe you can make the easy mode easier.

For those of you who don't know me all that well - I'm an idiot. When I come home from a long day at work from the production facility, I want to sit down and play a nice game of Reversi that doesn't beat the freaking crap out of me. As others have suggested, I'd love to see an "Idiots" mode introduced so that I can press the shiney buttons and still by some odd luck, win. I really don't have much more of an attention span than that of pressing buttons. Otherwise very nice, but please keep it from beating the tar out of me!smiley

yes! for the first time ever, i have whipped the easy mode! just don't mention the medium or hard computers....

This is the best game widget I know if. Entertaining, and games don't take very long. Might be nice ot have a feature that keeps track of records, e.g., by how many pieces you've beaten each AI, etc. How many games you've played vs. won, that sort of stuff.

I find that "hard" is easier for me to beat than "easy". It seems like, rather than simply being different difficulties, the various AIs just try different strategies. I've mostly played hard, so I'm better at that.

I like this game, but the computer is very challenging, in all modes. Decent size too.

I think it would be very cool if you could add a feature to connect over Bonjour to other players using the widget on the same network and play them. Good widget!

Very nice widget! Don't know if it'll be too difficult but allowing play over Bonjour would be absolutely brilliantsmiley

Hi, sorry but I'm not planning to add network play since programming that would be roughly 37 times as difficult as what I've written in it so far...

i love this game. i'd never played reversi until i downloaded this great widget. i can beat the easy opponent pretty consistently now, but the medium level is quite a challenge. thanks!

nice one! difficulty is o.k. in my opinion... but sometimes the display of possible moves seems to be a little buggy (like showing no possible move on mouseover at all) - you then have to leave and relaunch dashboard several times or drag the widget around to make it work again... I'd really appreciate this being fixed! great widget nevertheless, and my favourite dashboard game!
