Description: This is a G**gle maps standalone viewer.

It is currently in alpha stage, since there is one major bug - it will not show the content in the popup pin windows.

Other then this, everything should work - though of course, it is a work in progress, and comments are welcome.

Many thanks to the people at mygmaps.com, for their hard work in pioneering google map hacking.

Just to let people know, future plans for this widget include a pop-out sidebar for directions support, support for loading your own xml/xsl mapping files, support for google's satellite maps (this is already done, just not enabled), and, if I can pull it off, pulling terraserver satellite mapping data into this widget - allowing better resolution, though with older photographs, for the satellite view.

Any other ideas people want, throw them at me.

anyone have some idea on how print functionality should work - new safari window, handle it within the widget, etc? and would some sort of route following function be of use (in directions mode)?

A good start, but I think you need to put a 'control region" over the map. I can't drag the zoom slider up and down, instead it moves the whole widget. A control region should fix that.

hmm, odd - if you flip the widget, then flip it back, the dragging features work correctly. Not quite sure of the issue here, but I'll try to get it fixed
