You need to allow text input, if you can't type numbers for a page you can sometimes get trapped on a page and have to restart the widget.

I want to love this widget I really do, but it needs to allow for manual page number input!

Text input is available on the (J)ump to page key.

Version 0.9 has jump to page, keyboard control, sub-page viewing, multiple services, refresh, home page and check for update functions.

Phew!

Thanks for that, but it dosn't work for me, I tried relaunching the widget and all I got was a black screen. I tried again and it had a go with 'loading' on the right but it wouldn't work.

All in all a bit flaky, but I will keep an eye to see how it progresses.

Works really well for me (don't forget to read the instructions in the info section). Great to see Ceefax on a mac - I'm amazed and happy!

Old versions used to suffer from black screen but I've changed the internals to solve that. Are you definitely using the most recent version?

You can reboot to solve the black screen problem, which is Dashboard getting confused after being up so long.

I rebooted and it works now thanks for that.

However I am no doubt being a complete spiv but where is the info section for the instructions lol?

I do hate to keep on but I really want this to work so I can see whats on TV and get the news.

However on the home page it works fine clicking page numbers, but after that nothing works I can only navigate to say the news section and no further.

The keyboard does nothing what so ever. I am using this on a little iBook however its the same on my G5 as well.

Hi Gary,

The info sections is the same for all widgets, on the small "i" icon that appears in the corner of a widget when it is active. Again, this was only introduced in version 0.9

If clicks stop working press the R key to refresh. You may need to click once on the widget to give it focus. This will be fixed 100% in the next version.

Hope that helps,
matt

Many thanks. For some reason the dashboard on my ibook is a bit flakey if I download an update such as this widget and double click it, it launches the already installed widget, hense where I was going wrong. I manually removed the old one and put the new on in its place and its all working well.

Many thanks, great widget!

What can I say...

Functionality - does everything I can think of now
Design - holds true to the Ceefax/Teletext ethos of simplicity
Creativity - would never have thought of it myself, but wouldn't do without it now

Thus - 5/5/5 great job!

Brilliant!

However in v1.0 if I flip it over how do I flip it back?

I've had a number of reports that say the "Done" button is missing. What version of Mac OS X are you using?

Posted by: msephton (developer) on Jun 20, 05 (11:05 PM) for version 1.0 (previous version)

Re: No Done button & What version of MacOSX

Tiger as shipped with a new Powerbook with all the latest updates applied to 10.4.1. (ie not a Panther upgrade)

Does the default weather widget have a Done button? I use the same Apple-approved method of displaying it as that does.

Can you also try reloading the widget and leaving it a few seconds after display before hitting the info button?

Default Weather does indeed possess a Done button.

Reloaded 1.0 Ceefax widget several times. Waited 5 minutes... flip it over... Nope... no done button. Just an empty blue space in that corner. tried clicking all over the back but it just sits there. I have to kill it with the black widget X top left and start again so I can see any content.

I should also add I have tried a reboot in case dashboard was screwwy.... nope still no Done button on the flip side.

Hey wait new version 1.1 ready to download now shows on the flip......!! Yes! Done button now shows!

What did you do?

There was a bug that meant no preference file (ie. new users) would see a crashed widget.

I am suitably ashamed that bug got through in 1.0! smiley
