Looks great! Why isn't those bars in the "official" version? Why would you _not_ want to use them? Looks much better this way.

Great!

There is one minor thing. Why do the programs have .app behind them? I know that those are applications.

I'm sure the bars will eventually make it in, along with several of the other optimizations in this code, but there's a delay between when I send my code to Brad and when he has the time to include them, which is why I've released this director's cut version. As they make it into the release version, I'm sure this version will have other new modifications still "pending".

It looks pretty good, I just have a couple suggestions...

1) Just a suggesitons, but could you remove your widget name from the top. It is not really necessary for us to see it all the time and it would look a lot cleaner without it, just a simple info panel. You can put it on the back and it would be just as effective.

2) allow us to set a preference for the elements that we want to view. For example I would like to see the CPU and memory usage meters. At times I might only need the CPU meter, and not the others. Another idea would be to put a triangle or plus sign to expand it when we needed it, so you don't have to go to the back side.

that's it for now, nicely done.

anastas, you can tick checkboxes on the back for the elements you need. Or you could download HardStat, NetStat and so on if you need only those certain elements.

SUGGESTIONS:

I agree that the widget name should be gone for simplicity.

I would also like every bit of text in an lproj folder for easy localization. Thank you.

One suggestion would be to make it so it shows what the network upload and download traffic are.

I love it though! Thanks

That's what "In" and "Out" report in the network section

The bars look really nice. As I have written over at the release version, there are 3 things I'd like to see:

- current upstream and downstream
- record uptime
- cpu temperature

Here's my vote too for removing the name bar up top. I think it'd look much cleaner, as it was already said.
Keep up the great work.

I would love to see what Lundmark suggested, namely an lproj folder for easy localization!

The problem is that there's no "supported" way to check the temperature, and it also doesn't work on many of the newer powerbooks (including mine), making it hard to test. ioreg is also quite expensive in terms of resources, so I'm a little concerned about making the sysstat tool bloated with the temp.

Download doesn't work with 0.2. Widget is not on the Dashboard server according to DBW.

Until they get around to fixing the download link, you can grab the latest from here: http://www.nuclearelephant.com/projects/sysstat/

jzdziarski :
oh, I didn't know that. Oh well, I can live without that. But the upstream/downstream and the record uptime would be really nice to have.
Thanks for the quick answer.

I seem to have a problem with the widget loading and then crashing (doing nothing).

I sent you an e-mail.

"That's what "In" and "Out" report in the network section"

Sorry for the confusion, what I was talking about was what Diatribe has mentioned. The current k/sec that your computer is grabbing off the network, not the total amount so far.

To be honest, I prefered the original graphs. They were way more clear. With these I see not all data in detail. I miss out the size of the free RAM eg, and all the others are "soso".

Is there a way to revert these pictures to the old bars?

Posted by: gullevek on Jun 03, 05 (3:34 PM) for version 0.2 (current version)   View Detailed Rating

Red is wired, yellow is active, green is inactive, and the darkened green is free. I'm not sure what could be missing.

There is a major update for SysStat on the way.Ill post it as soon as its ready.
It will have live stats aswell as live in/out bandwidth stats as requested along with 4 new skins

Posted by: islayer on Jun 07, 05 (5:54 AM) for version 0.2 (current version)

If you compare the stats from the direcors cat it has these "bars" and the normal one has one full bar. its way easier to see the usage.
With missing I mean that because of these "bars" you miss out exact values.

I have the same problem with this and the regular sys stat: after I let it sit for awhile it stops refreshing and won't again until I relauch it.

I love the widget, I only wish it'd work smiley

Ok, the widget is fricken great! I only have one nitpick question. The in/out of the "Network Interfaces" section has a minor is labled "Mb", which is megabits, I thought the system reported the amount transfered in megabytes "MB". I may be wrong...
