Really cool and creative. I like the smooth flipping motion.....you never know when it will stop!

is a great widget, and good transition. but it would be nice if you could somehow make the side of a penny show when it flips, but i'm not sure if this is possible.

Thanks for the compliments ( o' _ '0 )
Let me know if the widget makes the right decisions smiley

modcaveman: nice idea to have it show the sides, but I wouldn't know how to do that.
I would need to get the status of the transition from Dashboard into javaScript and I don't know if Dashboard even does stuff like that.

Very clever! You should make one of a quarter too!

Would it be possible to have 4 sides, 2 of the being the sides of the coin, going through them all?

In a word: Excellent! I agree, letting users customize the coin would be very neat. I discovered something really funny, the coin flips to the left, but if you stare a little bit above the right side it looks like its flipping back and forth. Just something I noticed. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments!
I've updated the graphics but haven't really had time to look at your suggestions though.
Maybe later...

douziel - the coin uses only the flip-to-back-transition, but I think that flipping back and forth might look exactly the same as flipping in one direction... smiley

sorry, but I dont like the new graphics. Sticking with the photo coin.

I'm with propynyl. I prefer the photo coin as well. If you want to brand yourself or label the widget consider adding a curved title bar along the bottom, but please return to the orginal penny graphic. I'm sticking with the old version.

That's okay smiley It's basically the same thingy with new graphics. I wanted "in money we trust" written on the coin, and I tried to give the pics a bit more Dash.

I've put the widget with the old graphics here

Yeah, this is a fantastic use of the dashboard smiley

I tried out the v1.0 with the photo instead of the graphics and it is *definitely* a much better version...beyond the look, the flipping motion seems to happen quicker with more variation in flipping time than the newer version.

I would definitely like to see a choice of coins in the future (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half-dollars, silver dollars etc) maybe with the option to use photos or custom made graphics...

...the inclusion of a 'fixed' coin one could choose to rig the decision would add a new level of functionality to this widget.

Great job on 1.0, listen to the crowd and stick with photo(ish) images (NOT that your image is bad at all...its a better penny graphic than I could make, but it pales in comparison to the actual image of a penny used in the original).
