My question to you is, do you have these digits memorized in your head?

I do have them memorized, up to the point of "696993".

OK, I'd prefer a sequence of 135 consecutive decimals of pi with a different starting position every time Dashboard is activated. Can you do that?

Though you've got it memorized to "696993," the image actually shows "693993." Ha ha ha.

Anyway, why only 135? I can offer you Pi to 10,000 decimal places, or you can build in the functionality to calculate pi to a certain number of places, as does the app, piX - http://www.coriolis.ch/pix

I have a good idea; how about making the widget resizable, where the bigger it is, the more digits it displays. I bet it would be easy - Copy some of the sample code from Xcode's sample Widgets, then apply an overflow:hidden; to the digits' parent. I'd like to see how it works.

Ok.

My only complaint is that it can be hard to read at some points. Maybe make the background a little lighter.

Also, it would be nice if, when you clicked on the widget, it copied pi to the clipboard so you could paste it somewhere else.

All of your ideas are great! I think I'll try some of them. I have about an hour to work on them tonight, then I'll work on them again tomorrow morning (hopefully). The current version is so simple (to see what I mean, take a look at the css file), these things are going to require such a major remodel that I might as well start over and copy a couple things.

With these major changes, do you think it should be v1.1 or v2.0?

wow... the utter uselessness of this widget astounds me... i can't believe what some people will waste their time creating and what others will waste their time discussing... all of you moderately intelligent people cooperating to improve a completely useless code... do you really have nothing better to do with your time? gee... my life would be so much easier if i could see pi on my desktop to the 12 trillionth place value... then i could die a happy man... good god!!

Then again it astounds me that you have nothing better to do than reply here. Do you really have nothing better to do with your time? gee...

If you want pi to the 12 trillionth place value on you desktop, then I suggest you do a Google search for "pi 12 trillion" or something, because you are probably not going to find a widget with that many digits. We discuss this because we like it. If you don't, then don't download it. Just because a widget is here dosn't mean you have to look at it or use it.

Would some of the people who like this widget please rate it so people like cjhollingsworth don't mess it up by being the only rating?

yay i say make it resizable, or make it scrollable. or make a mini version thats like a stock ticker that just scrolls through it that woulb be cool too (make that one resizable also)
