Decorative - Image Widget

Description: Use this instead of making more stupid picture widgets that do nothing. Just drag your image in here and it will display. The widget allows for transparency, and gets out of the way completely once you drag an image in, leaving only the image itself showing. In other words, there is now absolutely no reason to upload a widget that does nothing but display an image.

Good idea! This should stop all those useless widgets I see that do nothing. A few things:

The back has nothing on it.
On smaller pics that you drag on it, the text "Drag an image, drop it here" is not on the image. It would be cool if you could center it no matter the dimensions.

I thought of a good prank using this widget! If you take a screenshot of another widget and drag it on this one, people would think that their widget is broken and unresponsive! (If you take the mouseover stuff off).

Great widget. Finally somebody (besides Apple) realizes screen realestate is very valuable and fixes the leaky pipe that's been useless widgets.

Great job!

Rock! Thank you sooooo much! For me, I removed the minimum size option because I wanted to use a small animated gif that sits on a computer monitor. If possible, I think it'd be neat to be able to adjust the max and minimum size of the image through the info pane.

Top work, but I fear it won't stop them from appearing.

Very nice! I have but two, make that three suggestions:

(1) Allow resizing;

(2) Keep the last image when this widget is closed and reloaded; and

(3) Drop the mouseover png, it's unnecessary.

And another suggestion:

(4) Allow minimizing the image to either a thumbnail or maybe with a window shade effect. This would be very useful with large images.

This widget is just a bad copy of the "Framing Gallery" widget that comes with the developper tools.

Yeah, I forgot to say that, but why the 1 star? It works, doesn't it?

I surrender!

How do you drag an image to the widget? When the widgets are active the desktop isn't and if you go to the finder to click on an image the widgets are not visible.

Simply start dragging the image while Dashboard is disabled and then press F12 to enable Dashboard. You'll now be dragging the image on the Dashboard layer so you can drop it on this widget.

One bug I've found: The Widget seems to cache an image by file name, meaning that if I change the image, and try to drop it into the widget again, it will only show the previously displayed (and cached?)image without the changes. I have to change the name of the image to get around this. Any thoughts?

So this used to work and i loved it. Has this one been discontinued? It only shows part of the images I drag and drop. I have tried it on two different computers.

I want you to know that you've unwittingly made a widget which is incredibly useful.

By loading up a semitransparent tiff, I can use it as an onion-skin to match a 3D model to a reference photo.

Thanks a bunch!
