Awesome. Beautiful, simple, functional. EXACTLY what a Dashboard Widget should be. The only gripe I have is that pressing the X is way too easy/confusing.

I understand that this is version 1, so bear in mind that this is just me tossing around what might be neat. I would LOVE it if, when you clicked the X, the clock continued to run. Make the time say something like "Clear?" and change the X to a red X and the Play/Pause to a green check. And if nothing else, the X should Pause on first click and clear on second click.

Also, log to file. However you want to implement it. Perhaps have the user drag in a text file they want to do logging on. It's a little advanced, but can be done without too much trouble.

Great, great, great job.

Great widget!

I could only ask for a little bit more of functionality.

If possible, have it append a given file on the desktop or in ~/Documents with a date/time stamp with the data listed.

If this is done, then it is one of the most valuable tools i can imagine for my jobs.

Is it me or is the font for the time digits diferent in the actual widget to that shown in the above screenshot?
The screenshot has a 7-segment look to it with the digits nicely centred vetically.

The widget I downloaded is not 7-segment and not nicely centred vetically to the point the digits are somewhat clipped at the top. I prefer the 7-segment look.

Seconds are not displaying, just some dots. Qué pasa?

Perhaps the author had a font installed that's not standard on our systems.

Seconds is not a big deal, though. Seriously. How many people bill to the nearest second?

I, frankly, believe the play/pause combo tells its purpose nicely, and the "x" makes sense.

If anything, make the x a two-stage button (like the burn button in itunes) where you click it once to enable, and click it again to perform the reset.

Thanks for the comments, I will have to think about the two stage reset button and how I could make it work nicely.

I really like the idea from Liquidrums about saving items to a file, it could save out to a tab delineated file that could be imported into a billing program or spreadsheet. I could see a drop-down drawer sliding from the bottom where you could select a client, billing type and start timing and then save it to the list. From there you could delete item or reselect them and start the clock again. Lots of things that could be done there, my original idea was just to keep it simple though...

My idea! My idea! smiley

The ability to label each instance with a client name would be great. I'd like to add my vote for some sort of logging or history too.

Nice widget, thanks. Could you please fix your versioning information though, it still shows 1.0 when this is 1.1. Thankyou

What kind of consultant bills by the second? I need some of that...

Ha, I wish my seconds were worth enough by themselves to count... But having the seconds there allow this to be used for any kind of timing purpose.

Nicely designed, small, simpleŚwell done. Now, if you want to be REALLY creative, perhaps you might try designing one specifically for contractors like me who need to time a number of jobs at once. I've downloaded 10 of your single timer for that purpose, but four or five might be reasonable, stacked vertically. The essential function would be a small window in which to type the client's name against each timer.

love the widget. the 2.0 version has a label BUT when you turn it over there is no "Done" button to flip it back over AND the start and stop buttons do not work... so I must stick with this version smiley
