Fun & Games - Gifraffiti

Description: Drawings by mouse action are converted to vibrating animations. Line color is changable with color panel on right side.

Animated GIF images can be transported to other applications or your desktop by drag & drop.

Following shortcut keys are available now.
- Cmd + Z (Undo)
- Shift + Cmd + Z (Redo)
- Cmd + G (Start/Stop Animation)

If you are not good at drawing like me, you can trace background images (desktop, those on website, etc) using transparent canvas.
Change transparency of the canvas by back panel.

White color lines are not a white-color-pen but a simple eraser. Scratching drawn lines with white pen erases them.

Version: 0.5
New in v0.5: Python scripts and libraries were replaced with an Universal Binary plug-in. The plug-in is written in native codes and the efficiency and the quality are improved, and I think that Intel Mac can run the current version.
The plug-in utilizes GD library which is distributed under GPL, therefore the license of this widget is also changed to GPL. See GifraffitiPlugin.zip archive in the package of the widget to get the source code of the plug-in.

Most innovative widget!
Really like the idea and what it has become!

This is a really creative widget (also kinda like the one i suggested on the forum)!!!!! the widget itself could be better, but it would be nice if you could put shortcuts for the undo and redo and that stuff.

Wow, this is a very cool widget! very very original! ( I will keep it in my dash ^_^ )

Nice! Very very nice! One suggestion though. If you could, could you make a tiny colour selector at the bottom of "Clear"? Just so there's a bit more choices than black. But this is extremely nice and works well! Great job!

this is an amazing widget! I love it! I think with a little alteration, you could also make a tracing paper widget (the same drawing system, but with a translucent background that could be placed over something on the desktop) which could be cool. The ability to drag and drop the project to the desktop is a remarkable feature and if I get a WACOM pad some time, wobbly drawings may end up appearing in my work!

OK, I love this gadget. Put it to use on my blog just today: http://thesplinteredmind.blogspot.com/2005/06/from-obvious-news-dept-bigger.html#comments

This is what I would like to see improved on it: I'd like to be able to choose the background color (save me from modifying the gif in Adobe ImageReady) and I'd like to be able to specify the size. Otherwise, wonderful widget! I have been looking for something to spice up my blog and personalize it better. This is just what I was looking for.

In version 0.3, the color selection doesn't work, you can't select certain colors.

Sorry, now the color works, but an eraser function would be great!

can you make the widget partially collapsible? it takes up too much of my dashboard space to have it up regularly, so it would be great if it was smaller when not in use, so i could have it up all the time. and one the wider lines, the curves have gaps in them, probably since you use a line instead of a circle.

Extremely innovative widget! I like how the development is going so far, but could it be possible to add some more paint tools, especially something like a paint bucket/fill tool? I also agree that an eraser would be very useful. Otherwise, really nice job. Keep up the good work!

i like this new version, but when you erase, it just wipes out the whole picture. and it would also be nice if there was a paint bucket tool. great widget, though! keep up the good work!

I love this widget. It has helped transform my blog (http://thesplinteredmind.blogspot.com) by helping me make quick, animated illos that add personal expression. I have 3 requests that I hope you take into consideration for the 1.0 version.

1) I know this is a lot to ask, but I'll ask anyway. I'd love to have variable line thickness. It doesn't have to be sophisticated, but it would make using your widget a dream with my graphics tablet.
2) Make it collapsible.
3) And as more of a suggestion than a request, you should add your program name somewhere on your widget with a hotlink to your website.

It doesn't work. I just d/l'ed .5b, tried a little doodle, clicked Anim button, and NOTHING happened. Played around with the settings a bit, but didn't help. Bottom line is, it just isn't working for me. At all.

Same problem here. No animation is being rendered. Also, the version number is still listed as 0.4.2 in the widget. Hope you get it fixed by next Tuesday. That's when I use Gifraffiti with my blog (http://TheSplinteredMind.blogspot.com) If not, I'll just pull the older version out of the trash and reinstall it. Good luck.

I'm also having the same problem, nothing is happening anymore. For those of you who have upgraded and deleted the previous verison, you can find it here:

It appears that this was updated again (check recent comments date and upload date), but it's still not working for me. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not able to animate anything. I hope this gets fixed soon. It's really a cool widget. But for now I'll stick with one of the previous versions.

Everthing is perfect with this widget. Well, except for one thing. I really liked how in the old version it vibrated more and in this one it bends.
