Date & Time - To Do Tracker

Description: To Do Tracker helps you stay organized by putting a handy notepad right on your dashboard, designed especially for quickly making and sorting lists. The minimalistic interface works very much like a normal word processor, so you can start writing right away! And of course, when you close To Do Tracker, all your lists are saved for your next session.

Great widget, it's like all-in-one stickies! Just maybe perhaps you could make it a little smaller to conserve Dashboard space. 5-stars!

This is a very simple, easy to use widget with a very nice notepad look.

Here are some possible areas of improvement:

- It would be nice if it handled longer to-do items better. Sure it accepts them but it makes it diffult to view them.

- It would also be nice if the user could select the font and font size to be used.

- And it would be nice to export lists to a file and single list items to a new email.

Anyway, great work! We need more useful widgets like this one.

I love it, but I second the font selection request. I really despise that marker-felt-looking font.

This widget is great!

I didn't get the nag screen, but second the suggestions above. It could do with a custom scroller too, and maybe the 'i' could be relocated to the right. Not very used to having it on the left and I don't see any UI problems in leaving on the right.

How about a shopping list widget with print and palm export funtions. Great looking widget bye the way.

Nice widget, but completly unusable if it can not phone home.

Now I can stop using the limited Stickies widget Apple provided and consolidate multiple lists in one widget instance. Pleasantly surprised and relieved to see that lists gained a scroll bar when they ran long. I can see that I will use this frequently.

Two functions I'd like to see: I'd love the ability to paste a list of items with carriage returns and have To Do Tracker intelligently handle each line. Also, the "New Page" menu item should always show at the top of the pull down menu. Having to pick it out from a long alphabetized list is frustrating.

Very nice!

Oops. Let me clarify my jumbled thought above: "Make New Page" should be at the top of the menu so as to be more accessible when the list of pages grows. My bad. Great widget.

Thanks, this is so great. Most of the suggestions sound all right, but I like it fine now, and it shouldn't be too bulky. So take it easy with the changes and additions.

Hey, great widget, my only problem is that it's too small! Perhaps a larger version for people with loads of dashboard space (at 1680 resolution the widget could be bigger and not be taking up too much space). The main reason I say this is for listing CDs to buy, I end up with either the artist or CD title lost across the edge, which is undesirable.

Otherwise though, great! Really true to Mac OS X by reducing the space required for multiple lists, making life easier. Nice one.

Great widget but a lot of my to-dos have more than 25 characters so it would be nice if each item could extend onto the next line (or several)

Love the widget, not a big fan of the graphics. "Monkey-Business Labs" Widgets graphically are a cut above from the rest. I dont feel as though this particular widget is visually up there with "Package tracker"

I'd go with something less cartoony, and something more sleek and cool.

Maybe give it an iCal type feel?

Keep creating widgets though, you're a cut above the majority of amateurish stuff that's out there

The new release fixes the nag screen bug I reported in this forum the other day. It's too bad that the moderator chose to remove the comment. I guess reporting true bugs might hurt sponsorships.

What we need is an impartial widget review medium.

Posted by: dturley on Jun 25, 05 (8:46 PM) for version 1.01 (current version)

It upsets me to be accused of censoring criticism of a widget produced by a sponsor when in fact the company in question has no such sponsorship with us.

We do not, in any way, favor any widget developer over the others.

As I said in our forums, I will look into the removal of the comment but it should be assumed that it was removed by mistake and not a malicious moderator out to protect the developer.

Monkey Business Labs:

Please integrate your To Do Tracker widget with iCal. In other words, my to do list in iCal should automatically show up in your widget. And when I delete something in the widget, it should be deleted in iCal. And vice versa. Is this possible? This would save me time so I don't have to enter everything twice.

Nice widget. It's something I've been looking for. So far it works well, but I'd like to see an option for color-coded priorities implemented, and also iCal integration would be nice, too. Then I might think about contributing. smiley Nice work. Keep it up.

Do not integrate it with iCal! Could you add a password-protection function??

Great widget!

The only thing I'd change would be the ability for longer item to contiune onto the next line as opposed to disappearing off the page.

Looks great! I like the note pad style. Stick with it!

Still experiencing daily crashes with 1.01. Probably the program trying to phone home. This is the only widget that crashes for me. I'm going to uninstall it.

basically a very useful widget but line wrapping support would really be a sensible addition! Without it, To Do Trackers's applications are somewhat limited (not every activity can be summed up in 20 characters or so...)

Posted by: gck on Jul 13, 05 (8:25 AM) for version 1.01 (current version)   View Detailed Rating

I love this app, but I have 2 MAJOR beefs with it!

1.) Crashed DAILY on me. This is the only widget that ever crashes on me.

2.) If I donate, is there an option to get that ANNOYING waiving dollar to go away for good?

Posted by: mjgrothaus on Jul 24, 05 (4:02 AM) for version 1.01 (current version)   View Detailed Rating

I got rid of it. Major memory leak. I just let it sit on my Powerbook and after 10 days, it was sucking up 214MB! That was with no data entered.

Posted by: MotleyFool on Jul 30, 05 (7:47 AM) for version 1.01 (current version)   View Detailed Rating

Whoa! I checked out the memory this is eating up after the last guy posted about a memory leak!

It's taking up 524MB of memory on my computer!

I thought this might be why my dual 2.0 was acting sluggish - and sure enough, after I deleted it, everything was fine.

524MB's!!!!!!!!

Posted by: mjgrothaus on Jul 31, 05 (7:28 AM) for version 1.01 (current version)

Great little idea, nice implementation, but why the heck does it need a half a gig of memory?? I too have the same problem as migrothaus.

It's taking about 2 gigs of virtual memory as well it states. Just amazing!!

Must be a mem leak of some sort.

running os X 10.4.3, other dashboard widgets are enabled, but none come close to this in memory requirements.

very useful indeed. i've donated smiley

If you watch the memory usage in Activity Monitor, you can see that the memory leak occurs only when the crazy dollar bill waves. As long as the animation runs, the memory usage climbs. When the animation quits temporarily, the widget stops eating memory until the animation starts again. The first time I ran it on my iBook, it used over 200 megs of my 512 before I caught on to what was happening, and my system hung. It was the only time I ever had to crash this computer.

Can someone who has donated tell us whether the dollar bill disappears after you donate, and if so, whether the memory leak stops as well? I emailed the developers about this problem and never received a reply. Is this actually a bug, or is it a novel scheme to persuade users to donate?
