I can't get this widget to work for me. It stays on 000 00 00 00 no matter what I enter.

Same problem here...

Same here.

Ditto.

Weird... it worked for me for a few seconds when I put the date it. Then I put the time in and it stopped working.
Damn. This would be really helpful otherwise. I hope the bug is fixed soon.

I'm currently investigating the problem. Please notice the version number of this widget, indicating that it in beta testing. There are going to be bugs until it's at a 1.0 release state. Thanks for your feedback; I'll post a revised version once I have one.

Now it's working.

It's working for me too now... great widget!

Hey, version 0.91 beta is working! Truly a fine example of widget workmanship and deserving of high marks. Incidentally, one of the problems of widget rating on this site is that, once you rate a widget, you can't later revise your rating as the widget shows improvment.

Great. Works now. I'd find it nice to have the font size changeable because in my eyes it seems a bit too big. Would be a great feature. Thanks.

Defiantly a good widget. I really like the flipping animation. My only complaint is that is it too big for my 14 inch iBook. If you could make a smaller version, or as timconduit said, make the size changeable, that would be great.

I think the size of this widget is just fine as it. And I've got a 12-inch powerbook smiley

Posted by: sprindle on Jun 29, 05 (3:12 AM) for version 0.91b (previous version)

Hey sprindle. I'm not talking about the "size" of the widget but the size of the text that you can enter in the top. I think it's a bit huge compared to the whole widget size. But that's just my opinion. Would be nice to have a feature that you can chose a font size. So everyone would be happy smiley

Oh, sorry sprindle. I referred to the wrong post. smiley

Got an idea to improve this widget slightly.

Whenever the remaining time drops down a notch... ie:

1h00m -> 59m

... remove the excess zeros for the days, hours, etc, accordingly. And you can make the widget shrink (decreasing the text size proportionally). Would have save space and remove redundant zeros.

Great idea SJ

And sprindle: what do you mean by that.

Loose translation: everyone to his own taste.

Possible support for multiple counters?

I know when you initially enter the info in it can support two, or more - but once you restart it loses all the info except for the most recently entered date.

Posted by: Anselan on Jun 29, 05 (10:23 PM) for version 0.91b (previous version)

Great little widget. But two things: It would be great to deactivate the second counter, because this really uses too much cpu on m mac mini. And second it would be great to count into the other direction. Not only into the future, but also from a day. How much time passed.

Posted by: gullevek on Jun 30, 05 (4:45 PM) for version 0.91b (previous version)   View Detailed Rating

Gullevek,out of curiosity how much CPU usage are you seeing? I note approx 7 per cent when dashboard running, 0 per cent when not. RAM usage stays the same. This on a powerbook G4 1.33 ghz.

Posted by: sprindle on Jun 30, 05 (6:50 PM) for version 0.91b (previous version)

gullevek,
For a widget that counts up, I can point you to ChronoTrack, at http://www.dashboardwidgets.com/showcase/details.php?wid=766

Posted by: Radruler on Jun 30, 05 (7:25 PM) for version 0.91b (previous version)   View Detailed Rating

@sprindle:
well, although it only uses ~8% here, my fan of my Mac Mini gets very noise since I have this widget on my dashboard. dunno why.

@radruler:
chronottrack is a stopwatch, but I am searching more something where I put in a date + time it shows me how much time passed since this event.

Sad that it does not work and is uploaded

doesn't work here either...

Yep. This really doesn't work. Prefs work, but I've got zeroes across the board. Shame - I could do with this widget.

same here

Posted by: wapittma on Jul 08, 05 (4:17 AM) for version 0.9b (previous version)   View Detailed Rating

Good, but if I have a 4 word tite the text just wraps and draws itself over the counter.
And, a design suggestion: Make the default font Helvetica Neue Bold and smaller in the title (maybe 1 pt smaller in the labels for the numbers).
The animation of the counter is also really framed on my 700 Mhz iMac G4.

Title area hold approx 18 characters, that should be enough. Current font face and size look fine.

Posted by: sprindle on Jul 09, 05 (6:32 PM) for version 0.93b (previous version)

Awesome!! How about creating a flip-digits clock, too? Possibly truly resembling the appearance of some 70s flip-digits clock, with a rotating wheel for the seconds rather than a digits pair.

"Title area hold approx 18 characters, that should be enough"

That's adapting your customer to your product, should be vice-versa.

Cool widget, but very processor intensive too!

The new version doesn't work properly. The digits seem spastic. And there's a white bar on the backside.

To any bug reporters: please e-mail me the relevant contents of your Console log, and details about what exactly goes wrong. I'm more than happy to try to fix any problems that crop up.

Thanks!
