| Description: | Web Translator is a little widget that lets you translate any web page to and from ten different languages using AltaVista's Babel Fish translator and/or Google's Translation service. So when you come across a page that's written in a different language, Web Translator is the widget you need. More at our site. |

I get not response when I press translate. A progress wheel would be reassuring, as I don't know if the widget is acting or not. Waiting for a minute produced no translation, so I'm not sure where the problem lies. Great idea, so I hope to see an update soon.

Make sure you've entered a URL, and selected the languages from the select menu. If you don't do both of those, it won't do anything.
If it still doesn't work, tell me. I should be able to figure it out.

could you please explain, how/why this is better than the included translation widget? (I'm asking an honest question by the way, not trying to be rude/sarcastic/etc)

Babel doesn't translate correctly. Use Google.

babel or google, you're gonna find mistakes-- you need a human to get a perfect translation. bablefish is adequate.
i can't say i understand your rating if it's based on that one complaint.

I wasn't aware that Google had a translator. Maybe in a future version I'll include an option as to which translation to use. (I would of course have to change the name of the widget.)

How about a translate text and not just a webpage.

Apple's built in one does that.

Very nice job! Every once in a while I come across a site, thinking, "what the heck?", but this should do the trick. However, I do wish it would also search Google, as I prefer Google's translation services over BabelFish (not that either one is great at website translation, though). Any chance of seeing that in the next version?
