Cool, I was about to make one until I gave up. Then I came here and saw it was too late, but well, whatever. Great idea, and it's pretty well-designed, since it doesn't take up that much space, the way it should be for a widget created only to watch it.

This widget is pretty cool and is designed well, but it usually seems to be incorrect when compared to the counter on Apple's own site, even after refreshing everything.

There is a little program out there (not a widget) that does this and also calculates the time when the next winning purchase will be made. That would be cool thing to add to this widget.

all the known widgets and apps are listed on the bottom of the page at http://itunescount.tijdweb.nl which shows an updating graph of the number of songs

Yeah, I just got it and now it does include a fully-functional widget.
And, after trying this widget (not the one I just mentioned, I mean the one we're commenting here) for a while, after a couple of dashboard activations the widget stopped updating the counter, it just freezes on a number and stays there untl I relaunch it. Hmpf.
