Miscellaneous - Stickies Dispenser

Description: Like using Apple's Stickies widget, but don't like using the Widget Bar every time you need a new Sticky? Just click the Stickies Dispenser to add a Sticky to your Dashboard.

Great idea! I love the concept, I sometimes need a sticky in a dash (to record a phone number or website) and this fits the bill perfectly! Great Widget!

Clever. I like it. The more widgets I add to the list the more cumbersome the activation of a sticky in a hurry. This will save me time. Thanks.

Almost perfect! I hated Apple's version of Stickies for the dash but love keeping notes for myself on my desktop. I've been using a rather lame "notepad" widget for some time now. If you made two small changes to your widget, I'd be in love: 1) make it just as easy to delete a sticky! maybe when you click the "i" on a sticky and it flips over, there could be a button that you could click to delete that sticky. Or put a (subtle!) button right on the front of the original sticky. 2) make the stickies re-sizeable.

BTW, one of my favorite parts of this widget and the stickies themselves is how subtle, simple, and uncluttered they look.

One more request and one bug: First, I get frustrated that I can't fit more typing on one sticky. The only option I have is to reduce the size of the font. This is why I'd love to see the stickies re-sizeable. The bug I noticed is that if you change the font size when there is no type entered (as in when you first start a new sticky), when you flip the sticky back over there is no cursor and no way to enter type into it. Arg!

One more bug: It is very slow to highlight text in a sticky - when I drag the cursor over text, it usually will only highlight a little chunk of it at a time. So much for cut and pasting text out of a sticky. Oh well, for now I'll be "sticking" with the notepad. Too bad because this widget is much more sexy.

...and I can't paste into a sticky at all.

Correction, I can't drag and drop text into a sticky - I can cut and paste. Sorry about all the posts.

The sticky you get when you click on this widget IS an Apple sticky - so its bugs and features are exactly the same. Note, though, that if you type enough into a sticky the font size will automatically decrease, and that you can close a sticky (or any other widget) by pressing the Option key to reveal the close box.

Maybe in the future I (or another developer) will create an enhanced version of Stickies with the features you requested. But this widget is not it.

I see now that this is a separate app that just interfaces with Apple's Sticky widget. So the flaws are with Apple, not your widget. I guess what I've really been hoping for is an improved Stickies widget.

Back to THIS widget, it's excellent and does exactly what I needed...except now my Dashboard is full of stickies telling me what I need to be doing, and none of them done...it's like my actual desk ;/

Right.

Do you have 'Stickies.wdgt' in /Library/Widgets ?

For those wanting a smaller version of Stickies Dispenser, cruzn15 has made a new widget, Sticky Spawn.

Ya, I do..

There is a smaller Widget that serves the same purpose, so therefore this is a space waster.

Yeah.
Even I use the new, smaller widget now that it's available.
